Protecting our Library Resources!

Dear BMI students,

You may know that the uOttawa library is cancelling its subscription to thousands of journals due to a budget cut. This affects students and professors from all departments and faculties, and research at uOttawa in general. In fact, several journals in the cancellation list are relevant and useful to BMI/CMM (e.g. Microbiology, Endocrinology). A complete list of cancelled journals can be found here:


The Biology department has started a petition to ask the uOttawa Senate and Board of Governors to protect our library resources. To learn more and sign this petition, please see the link below.

Adobe Workshop!

Join us for an Adobe Photoshop workshop!

When: November 15th 1-3PM

Where: RGN room 2021 

Topics that will be discussed include

-Digital Images / Capturing
-Resolution – DPI
-Publication Requirements
-Working with images
-Alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator
-Photoshop basics for composite images (channels/levels)
-Photoshop tools (counting tool)
-Adobe Illustrator and Vector Graphics

The BMI/CMM/NSC Graduate Student Council is bringing back RGN Fit for the fall. It will run the same time as in the summer, that is on TUESDAYS at 4pm in the RGN Courtyard. Come out this Tuesday and enjoy a FREE workout with a certified personal trainer.

Mitacs Presentation!

Happy New Year !

Mark your calendars for the Mitacs presentation, a not-for-profit organization that helps build partnerships between academia and industry/qualified not-for-profit organizations. Mitacs projects can range from $15,000 to $2+M so come learn about potential funding opportunities and services offered by Mitacs.
There will be an opportunity for 1on1/small group meetings following the presentation for anyone interested in more details.
